Ebola and Uganda

Dear, kind, concerned friends,

I have had many questions from you wondering if the recent Ebola outbreak is affecting our adoption, and the good news is that no, our adoption is at this point unaffected by the Ebola outbreak. Praise God!

Others of you ask if I am concerned that it will in the future affect our adoption, and the reality is that yes, there is that possibility, but no, I am not concerned. Uganda is on the opposite side of the continent of the affected region. (The last time Uganda saw Ebola in-country was in 2012, and the distance between the countries is almost 3,000 miles... that's comparative to our distance between Minnapolis to Alaska.)

Though I remain hopeful and fairly confident that the adoption is not going to be affected by the Ebola outbreak, I do ask that you consider praying for these people anyway - even though we have no connection. My heart is genuinely hurting for these West African brothers and sisters of ours who are dying, losing loved ones, and/or living in fear of contracting the disease.

Please join us in praying for those in the western region of Africa - that the sick are healed, the families who mourn will be comforted, and that the spread of this disease stops now.

If we have any concerns about our adoption, we will share our news and ask you to pray over it - as we said from the beginning, this is a journey we are all on, together. We made you a part of our adoption when we noted on our Pure Charity site: "We are already overwhelmed with the support we have received ... this is your story too! It's a story all of us are writing in the life of a child who is waiting for love and care. "

So please know that for now, all is still on track and the Ebola outbreak is not interfering with the adoption of Baby Cormican -  again, praise God!
