Garage Sale Stories

So, after the garage sale ended, I promised some stories! Here are just a handful - but they are four of my favorites! (Keep in mind, all of our signs had 'Adoption Fundraising Garage Sale' written on them.)

Garage Sale

1. One guy who came to the garage sale looked around for a while and finally brought up one item, an old cuckoo clock. When my mom told him the price (because -of course- this item didn't have a tag on it) would be $2, he gave us a $5 and said to keep the change for the fundraiser. Based on his purchase and the time spent there, I figure he was planning on giving us that $5 no matter what.

2. A Spanish-speaking lady came in and spoke a small amount of English, but in English she blessed us and the house; then, after finding out I spoke a little Spanish she started blessing us in Spanish. It was so cool and truly a beautiful blessing!

3. The owner of the local Dickey's BBQ stopped by and gave us 100+ cards for free BBQ and told us to give them out to everyone and to keep a bunch for ourselves.

4. A guy on a motorcycle drove up; he looked pretty tough with his gear on, and no smile. He stopped the bike in front of the house, walk directly up to me at the 'cashier' table and asked if I was the one adopting; I said, "Yes". He handed me a $20 bill and walked back to his bike, got on and rode off. Speechless.

These among many other special moments were a blessings to us; the stories are forever written on my heart ...and in the story of this adoption.
