Thought of the Day - June 9, 2014

"But the Lord had also planted in me a desire to share the truth He had shown me in Uganda to the people who surrounded me now in America.
I wanted to share with them the truth that while their children were alive today, more than sixteen thousand other children died of hunger-related causes in the last twenty-four hours.
I wanted hem to know that another three thousand children in the world, mostly in Africa, will die of malaria today--malaria, which is both preventable and treatable.
I wanted to share with them the truth that many of us seemed to have over-looked--that God wanted us to care for the poor, not just care about them, but to truly take care of them, and many of us were not doing so.
God told us to love our neighbors as oursleves, but so many of our neighbors were starving to death while our tables were filled with abundance." - Kisses from Katie: A Story of Relentless Love and Redemption by Katie J. Davis

This is my thought for the day: how blessed I am, and how much I have to give.

For Tony and I, giving is in the form of all sorts of adoption costs already paid for (and many upcoming), as well as providing a home and becoming parents for the first time to a child who has no one and nothing.

I am just now learning what it means to be generous with my 'abundance'.
